Azure Data Engineer - Contract Role

My client is the Asset Management arm of a global Investment Bank. They are seeking an experience data engineer with deep expertise in Azure environments and technology.

The Role

In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and improving digital products and technology services using cutting-edge Azure technologies. You'll work within an agile environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver a scalable, digital, and integrated platform for portfolio management and trading.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing ETL processes using tools like Informatica and Unix Shell Scripting
  • Migrating on-premises systems to Azure, including SQL Server and NoSQL databases
  • Architecting and engineering solutions on Azure, leveraging services like Data Factory, Kubernetes Service, Container Apps, App Service, Functions, Event Grid, and Service Bus
  • Working with messaging platforms like Kafka and containerisation technologies like Kubernetes
  • Embracing microservices and event-driven architecture principles
  • Adhering to Agile, Test-Driven Development, and DevOps best practices
  • Writing clean, maintainable code and contributing to the engineering culture

Your Profile

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Strong experience with ETL tools, Unix Shell Scripting, and job scheduling tools like Autosys
  • Proven expertise in SQL Server, Azure SQL, and familiarity with NoSQL databases
  • Hands-on experience with Azure cloud architecture and engineering
  • Knowledge of messaging platforms, preferably Kafka
  • Experience with containers, ideally Kubernetes
  • Understanding of microservices and event-driven architecture
  • Familiarity with Agile, TDD, and DevOps practices
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Passion for learning and innovation
