Institutional Business and Data Support Center Director (Full Time)

Location: Eureka Illinois Country: United States of America
 

POSITION SUMMARY: Help guide Eureka College in improving processes, services, and software through data analysis, software features, and software implementations in alignment with the strategic plan. Serve as the liaison between IT and college departments to improve efficiency and sustainability. Lead data governance practices and engage with campus leaders to ensure data integrity and accuracy. Use data analytics to assess processes, determine requirements, and deliver data-driven recommendations and reports to executives and stakeholders. Supports accreditation and industry reporting in a timely manner. Support the data transactions between student information system (SIS) and other software systems (LMS, Financial Aid, Financial Edge, Admissions). Support MS Teams and sharepoint.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Support the Title III SIP grant EC PACES initiative
Coordinate with working groups and IT to select and implement systems for EC PACES
Implement and test changes
Create new reports and dashboard to support grant efforts.

Manage the relationship with Jenzabar vendor for Sonis upgrades and system enhancements. Maintain the SONIS administrative database system, including but not limited to:
Planning, managing, implementing, and testing system upgrades
Enforcing the data consistency on the system
Updating database tables as necessary
Troubleshooting any database errors and user-related issues
Reporting software issues to SONIS support for resolutions
Provide technical support and education to users for student information system, existing reports, dashboards, or other tools.
Maintain library of model documents, templates, or other reusable knowledge assets. Maintain dashboards, systems and methods for business intelligence.
Support data transactions across systems.
Oversee the creation, accuracy, and distribution of reports for leadership, registrar, development, and alumni relations that support and measure these programs and meet outside reporting obligations.
Institute a culture of customer service and consultative approach. Disseminate information regarding tools, reports, or enhancements.
Oversee data integrity, including student information, alumni, and donor records and gift processing. Oversee regular data enhancements and updates.

Research technologies to find the best system to improve business processes. Techniques used may include Data and Mapping Audit, Functional Usability audit, and Gap Analysis.
Prioritize workflow improvements which utilize JRM, Sonis, Razor's Edge and other support systems.
Develop cost and benefit analysis of new systems or workflows
Work with IT to implement workflows and solutions across systems.
Supervise and support Institutional Support employees to maintain relevant skills
Respond to ad hoc research requests.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
May develop and maintain sharepoint site.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:
Potential to Supervise a team of 2-4 employees and potentially student employees. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION:
Essential: Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university
Desirable: Master's degree from an accredited college or university

EXPERIENCE:
Essential: Experience with data management, project team work, and business analysis techniques.
Desirable: Experience with use of on-line processes and administrative software for information management.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
None required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
SQL and database management
Knowledge of data governance practices
Knowledge of college business processes and Student Information Systems features
Experience working collaboratively with IT and business offices
Experience implementing and testing system changes
Experience creating reports for administration

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Environment: The office is located in a building with steps outside leading to the door. The noise level is typically quiet to moderate.
Physical Demands: Must be able to sit for long periods of time. May be required to climb steep flights of stairs. May require lifting of files and materials not to exceed 25 lbs.
Sensory Attention: May experience eyestrain and occasional headaches from utilization of computers.
Mental Demands: Must be able to handle the stress of working in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. Must be able to communicate with and cope with all types of personalities. May also experience stress due to meeting deadlines and working with emotional or stressed students.

WORK SCHEDULE:
Normal workday is Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with one hour allocated for lunch. Additional hours or occasional Saturday hours may be necessary for special events.
